Lynn Neils to Baker Botts from Covington

Lynn Neils has moved from Covington to Baker Botts.

Neils, a former Chief of the Major Crimes Unit in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, is now a partner at Baker Botts in New York.

“Lynn is an outstanding litigator with an impressive track record of client service in the White Collar arena,” said Andrew M. Baker, managing partner of Baker Botts. “Her addition to the firm adds to our growing and robust White Collar defense practice.

Neils graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in December 1989, where she was a member of its American Criminal Law Review.

She spent a number of years in private practice before joining the U.S. Attorney’s office, first in the Southern District of New York from 1994 to 2000, then in New Jersey from December 2001 to January 2004.

In 2004, Neils returned to the Southern District as the Acting Deputy Chief, Criminal Division from March 2004 to June 2004, and then she became Chief of the Major Crimes Unit until January 2007.

In 2007, Ms. Neils became Senior Counsel at Johnson & Johnson, leaving in 2009 to join Mayer Brown.

In 2012, she joined Covington & Burling as a partner.
