What
Arlen Specter Is Doing for Corporate America
22 Corporate Crime Reporter 12, March 18, 2008
What is Arlen Specter (R-Pennsylvania) doing for you?
You being corporate America?
A lot.
Especially when it comes to protecting the attorney-client privilege against all of those overreaching corporate crime prosecutors.
Specter will lay it all out on April 11, 2008 at 4:30 p.m.
At that time, Specter will address the American Bar Association’s White Collar Crime Committee.
He’ll be at the Philadelphia offices of Reed Smith and will discuss his proposed Attorney-Client Privilege Protection Act (S. 186) and the Senate’s recently approved Federal Rule of Evidence 502.
The session will be moderated by Reed Smith partner Efrem M. Grail.
Specter’s privilege protection bill places limits on a prosecutor’s power to coerce or pressure a corporation to waive its legal protections.
The bill is pending before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Similar
legislation – HR 3013 – was passed through the House of Representatives
on November 12, 2007.
