New York Times Reporter Kocieniewski to Cover Multinationals

Pulitzer Prize winning New York Times reporter David Kocieniewski has a new beat: multinational corporations.

For the past three years, Kocieniewski has been the tax reporter for the Times, winning the Pulitzer for his series on  tax avoidance — “But Nobody Pays That.”

But as of this week,  Kocieniewski is off taxes and on multinationals.

In a memo to Times staff last year, Times business editor Larry Ingrassia said that  in his new beat covering multinationals, “David will delve into a wide range of issues that have become increasingly important in the global economy — everything from how companies sell their products (and to whom), to how they tailor their products for different (sometimes lower) standards and regulations, to how they treat their workers, to how they decide where to locate their manufacturing plants.”

Ingrassia pointed out that the last two Times Business tax reporters — David Cay Johnston and David Kocieniewski — won Pulitizers for their work on taxes.
