“Attorney General Lungren is widely recognized as an individual of the highest integrity and ethics with strong personal relationships on both sides of the aisle,” said Wick Sollers, head of the firm’s Government Matters practice. “As state AGs have become more active, Dan’s knowledge of the relevant processes and people enhances our ability to counsel clients on how to respond to state AG investigations or litigation. He will be a tremendous asset to the firm and we are looking forward to working with him.”

Lungren served five terms in the U.S. House of Representatives (1979-1989) before being elected as Attorney General of the State of California (1991-1999).

Following two terms as the state’s top law enforcement officer, Lungren was elected to serve another four terms in the U.S. House of Representatives (2005-2013), where he served as chairman of the Committee on House Administration as well as chairman of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure.

“Dan’s relationships with significant players in California and peers in other states is an advantage and offering that is hard to match by others in California,” said Fritz Zimmer, head of the firm’s San Francisco office. “Given our priority to better serve clients on a range of matters in California, we are delighted to welcome him to the firm.”

Lungren graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame and earned his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.

“I miss the state AG work and am excited to team with my new colleagues to counsel clients on state AG issues, but also on government advocacy and data privacy matters,” said Lungren.
